Kath Lowe is an award winning portrait painter. Here are a series of six portrait paintings of the actress Alexandra Milman as she appeared in the Gothic Henry James play 'Turn of the Screw' 'The portraits explore expressions of the human psyche. We learn to read faces at a very early age, we wonder what faces might tell us about others and what others might see in our face. People constantly send out social signals through facial expressions. This psychological thriller was a great opportunity for me to investigate this subject.' Kath is also interested in painting everyday objects of ritual, whether sacred or secular. The paintings shown here of Brasso and Silvo are used in the ritual cleaning of sacred and secular objects."
